Day 56 - Jumping Out Of A Plane

We finally arrived at the place where Luke's birthday present would come true .. Mission Beach. Apparently one of the top sites for hurling yourself out of a plane .. as you do. So I booked the Skydiving for the next day, plenty of time for us to make each other really nervous and by the time we were picked up by the skydiving company we were pretty much shitting ourselves! Obviously I had booked the highest jump you can possibly do, 14,000 feet! Eeks.

We got strapped onto our hopefully experienced sky divers and finally got on the plane! Seems like I was going to be the first one to jump out.

No worries! I was fine and totally calm. I mean what could possibly go wrong ey?! *forced smile* I had so many butterflys in my tummy by now and was suuuuper nervous. Finally the door opened and my sky dive partner shuffled me towards the open door so that my body was pretty much hanging out of the plane. And then .. we waited! For the green light obviously! Oh my god, this seemed like an eternity. I was just hanging and hanging.. more and more pooing myself .. and more hanging .. and then : We jumped!!! AAAAAHHHHHH! I can't actually remember whether I screamed or not, I think I just held my breath in shock. Even now when I think about it, I get little butterflys in my tummy! It was soooooo coooool!! The freefall lasted for about 50 seconds, it was amazing! I just wanted to do it again and again. :)

After our parachute opened we had an easy flight down to Mission  Beach which was nice and I spotted Luke somewhere too, so he had obviously survived it, yay!

Lucky we didn't accidently land in the water though cause as we found out after landing, there had been a saltwater crocodile in the sea just that morning and the beach was closed due to this. Nice.

Mission Beach was a lovely little place actually. I could have easily stayed longer there. The locals there are super friendly and we got to know a few down at the pub and at the camp site or just walking down the street. Some of them even gave us some fruits which we had quite a few locals do on this trip so far :)
